The Sky Conquest

I used "the Style Contest" phrase and played with it so I came up with "The Sky Conquest". That sounded like some parachute event so I made this skydiving theme-

This contest is getting so exciting. This is an awesome style. Very creative footer - with the plane pulling the banner.

The images you use are really sharp as well. Great work.

I agree with Byrne, the plane pulling the banner is great. But I think what struck me first was your use of transparency around the parachute in the column. It just looks great.

Absolutely, the crispness of the images coupled with the transparency make this a truly gorgeous style.

Alen, that style is HOTTT!!!!! That said, I must express my disappointment for lack of two-column layout support. If I could use it on both one-column and two-column layouts, I'd be slapping it onto my blog faster than you could say "sweeeeeeeeeeet!"...

In any case, great job!

Looks great, indeed! But I didn't know we were using image replacement for headers... doesn't that go against the idea of an easily adaptable template? If that's not an objection, though, woohoo! That gives everyone much greater scope for creative beauty.

I agree with Danny.
This style is very HOT!

but, you have already use Image for the header (h1 and h2).

and now, i have to reboot my design after i see your design... :D

Wow, guys!
Thank you for your comments!
I was using image replacement technique since I figured this is a design contest, right. Anyone willing to reuse this style outside the contest can ask me and I will provide a psd with typo so he/she can customize the header.
Anyway, thank you all for your comments, I got 2 more themes to deliver :)

Looks great, Alan. And providing the PSD is a great idea--I was going to say that not being able to customize the header makes this style beautiful and practically useless... good move!

Not to toot my own horn too loudly, but Trail Mix uses image replacement for the banner. I provide a high-quality .tif for you to make your own banner image, a duct tape "blank" along with the CSS to use normal type on it (for those who don't have the tools to create an image), and--best of all--there's the Duct Tape Title Generator I wrote. Consider the bar raised!

Jesse, maybe I could take this one step further and include psd in the theme's .zip file so users would get it instantly. Admins, can that be arranged?
@Dan: Image replacement is not the only thing we have in common. :) Take a look at my site. I also use transparency for the main content area, although I am using a combination of semi transparent png and "pixel grid".

Hi Alen, feel free to include a PSD file (and a readme so users know how to use it :) in your zip file. Just resubmit your style with the new zip file and we can approve it!

I was wondering about rights to photography - what sort of license does the photography need to have for six apart to be able to republish it as a template? Can common stock photography be used?

Amber

common stock photography - should have been royality free. sorry bout that.

@Dan: Your Duct Tape Banner generator is truly one of a kind. I suppose the old "it's good for anything" adage is villified once again. =)

@Alen: That's exactly what I was talking about. We don't pull .PSD files out of your zip, so please feel free to include any you'd like the user to be able to customize!

@Amber: As long as it's royalty free, I think you're ok using it, but I'd be sure to check with the terms from wherever you got it. Some stock photo places won't let you use it for redistribution like a template, but you need to check the license to be sure.

I love this design. I just wish it supported a sidebar. Perhaps a sidebar on the right, moved down a bit so you can still see the parachuter.
