Contest Rules

This page is a summary of the Official Contest Rules. We recommend you read the official rules at least once.

Submission

  • All submitted designs must be submitted in a zip file that meets these requirements
  • Entries must be received by May 15 June 5, 2006, 10:00 pm PST.
  • Entries must include a screenshot, necessary CSS and image files, and the submitter's valid email address.
  • Participants are welcome to enter up to 3 designs per category, and 10 designs overall. (Submit your best designs!)
  • A single design can only be submitted to one category.
  • Entries must be compatible with the main index and all three archive templates for at least one layout listed here
  • Entries must not include images that are unlawful, harmful, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable, the determination of which is up to the sole discretion of the contest organizers.
  • Entries must not include images that infringe upon someone else's copyright, trademark, or license.
  • Entries have been tested against the most popular browsers and platforms (Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer).

Prize Eligibility

To be eligible to win a prize, the participant must be over the age of 18 and must not, in any way, be affiliated with any of our sponsors.

Judging

Judging will take place by a panel of leading web designers. Entries will be judged based upon the following criteria:

  • Adherence to the submission guidelines
  • Uniqueness and originality of design
  • Creativity of design
  • Completeness of design (Styles should work with this set of basic templates)
  • Appropriateness to designated category
  • Browser compatibility

Prizes

A prize will be awarded to the best design in each category. The winning design within each category will automatically be registered as a finalist within the design contest and will be eligible to win the Grand Prize.

There are seven categories that qualify for category prizes:

  • Entertainment and Media
  • Hobbies and Crafts
  • Home and Family
  • New, Politics and Current Events
  • Sports and Recreation
  • Technology
  • The Kitchen Sink (everything that falls outside of the previous six categories)

Those eligible for the Grand Prize comprise the winner from each design category.

The $1000 category prize counts towards the total $4000 Grand Prize. So the total amount the Grand Prize winner wins is $4000.

Winners will be announced on June 2 June 23, 2006.

Prizes that have not been claimed within 14 days of the winners being announced are subject to forfeit. If you win a prize, please claim it by contacting the contest coordinator, Byrne Reese (thestylecontest@sixapart.com) within 14 days of the winners having been announced.

Prize winners from countries other than the United States will be responsible for paying any duties required by local law to receive shipment of a prize. You need to 18 years old to participate in the contest. You also cannot have any affiliation with any of the sponsors in order to be eligible for a prize.
